The Norman House was built in 1917 as a wedding gift for Ellis Norman and his new bride. Ellis was a man distinguished for good citizenship and neighborliness. He served Chowan County as sheriff with dignity and efficiency for several years. The Norman House is a colonial revival style home with asymmetrical roof gables slightly shifted to the left. This historic residence has been completely restored to much of its original condition with a new kitchen and updated plumbing/bathrooms.
